Counselling for police, RCMP & first responders · Canada

When you're off watch,
who looks after you?

Off Watch Wellness provides confidential, specialized counselling for the people who answer the call — delivered by clinicians who understand shift work, trauma exposure, and the culture you serve in.

Private · Independent · Built for first responders

The job leaves a mark. Carrying it shouldn't be the job too.

Cumulative exposure

The calls add up. Repeated exposure to trauma and critical incidents takes a measurable toll over a career — long before anyone calls it a crisis.

A culture of "push through"

Stigma, fear for your career, and not wanting to burden the people at home keep too many from reaching out until things break.

Generic help misses the mark

A counsellor who's never had to understand a night-shift rotation, a use-of-force review, or what a "bad call" really means starts ten steps behind.

What we help with

Support shaped around the realities of the work

Whether something specific happened or it's the slow weight of years on the job, we meet you where you are — confidentially, and without judgment.

Trauma & operational stress

PTSD, post-traumatic stress injury, and the cumulative effect of critical incidents over a career.

Sleep & shift work

Rotating shifts, disrupted sleep, and the exhaustion that quietly erodes everything else.

Relationships & home life

Reconnecting with partners, family, and the parts of yourself that the job can crowd out.

Anxiety, depression & burnout

The hypervigilance, low mood, irritability, and numbness that build up over time.

Substance use & coping

Honest, non-judgmental support for the habits that started as a way to take the edge off.

Critical incidents & return-to-work

Support after a significant event, through an investigation, or on the path back to duty.

Why Off Watch

Built for first responders, from the ground up

Confidential and independent

We're not run by your service or your employer. What you share stays between you and your clinician — full stop.

Clinicians who know the culture

You won't spend your first three sessions explaining the job. Our clinicians have specific training and experience supporting public-safety personnel.

Made to fit shift work

Evening availability and secure virtual sessions across the country, so getting support doesn't mean burning a day off or driving across the city.

Coverage-friendly

We aim to work with the benefits and coverage first responders already have, so cost is one less reason to wait.

How it works

Begin sessions virtually or in person, on a cadence that works around your shifts and your life.

Be first in line

Join the waitlist

We're building Off Watch Wellness with input from the people it's for. Add your name and we'll reach out privately as we open spots — and, if you'd like, ask what support would matter most to you.

  • Confidential — your details are never shared with your employer.
  • No obligation — joining the list doesn't commit you to anything.
  • Early access — waitlist members hear first when we open.

We'll only use your details to contact you about Off Watch Wellness. No spam, ever.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is it really confidential?

Yes. Off Watch Wellness is independent — we're not operated by any police service, agency, or employer. What you discuss with your clinician is protected by the same professional and legal standards as any registered counselling or psychology practice in Canada. We will never report your participation to your employer.

Is this only for police and RCMP?

No. We're built around the public-safety community broadly — police, RCMP, firefighters, paramedics and EMS, corrections officers, 911 dispatchers, and the families who carry the job alongside them. Police and RCMP are a core focus because of how this started, but you're welcome here.

Will you work with my benefits or coverage?

That's the plan. Many first responders have extended health benefits or employer/association programs that cover mental-health care. As we launch, we're prioritizing being compatible with the coverage you already have. We'll share specifics with waitlist members first.

Virtual or in person?

Both, where we can. Secure virtual sessions make it possible to get matched with the right clinician regardless of where you're posted, and we're working toward in-person options in key regions.

What does it cost?

Pricing will be transparent and in line with standard counselling and psychology rates in your province, with the goal of maximizing what your benefits cover. Waitlist members will get full details before anything begins — joining the list costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

What if I need help right now?

Please don't wait on us. If you're in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide Crisis Helpline, 24/7) or call 911 in an emergency. Off Watch Wellness is a counselling service in development and is not set up for crisis or emergency response.
